Customizing Statuses
When coming up with different status names for your projects, you want to take a second to think about how statuses work.
A status should NOT be used to describe a Task that was done to a file. Because the status will change as the file progresses, you want to avoid statuses like “New Client” or “Invoiced” - and instead use statuses that describe what needs to be done to the file in order to wrap it up.
Statuses like “Onboarding” - “Working” - “Awaiting Documents” - and “Closed” all describe what’s going on with the overall file, and show that it’s either still being worked on, or is finished.
Be careful when renaming existing statuses, as it will impact all files that are in that status. So if you have a status for “Awaiting Documents” and you change it to “Missing Documents” - that’s fine, because the meaning is the same. On the other hand, changing “Awaiting Documents” to “Appointment Scheduled” will lead to confusion - as every file that’s awaiting documents is now improperly labeled.
To customize statuses
On the top right corner of Taxydo, you will see a drop down with Your Name.
Click Your Name > Settings and on the Settings page, click “Statuses”

Select the project type and hit Manage
Each Status Groups has one or more Statuses.
Create A New Status Group - if youd like to add a status to an existing group, you can skip ahead.
Click the Plus button to add a new Status Group
Give it a name - again, make sure you’re picking a name that describes the status of the file, and not naming something that might better be created as a Task.
Before you can add use this, you must give it a Sub Status
Create a new Sub Status
Click “Add a Sub Status”, give it a name, and hit Save!
You should now see your new Group and Sub Status on the dashboard and Project Profile
